Photographer Nicole Segers spent three years (2001-2004) photographing in the region that would soon become the European Union's new eastern borders. In search of images, which present both a feeling for atmosphere and historical context, Segers photographed the inhabitants of this border region.
She worked along the border with the Russian enclave of Kalingrad, Belarus and Ukraine. The photos were published in "The End of Europe - meeting the new eastern borders", a unique combination of poetic journalism and documentary photography (Lemniscaat, 2004).
Nicole Segers (1960) is a documentary photographer. Her work is published and exhibited worldwide.
