Ella Pronk traveled to Poland during the time of Pope John Paul II 's first visit as Pope to his homeland. Unholding, was an historic moment. Millions of Poles came to see him on his journey. With three friends, Ella decided to follow him during his week long visit. From a Dutch perspective, appeared at the time a truely unique document of Poland, never before seen.

Ella studied photography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy of Amsterdam and social work at The Karthuizer Academy of the Social Sciences. She later taught at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam of Amsterdam.
